The Fiberglass Pool Surface
|
In addition to being beautiful and luxurious, fiberglass pools by

Due to their sturdy fiberglass construction, San Juan fiberglass

The gel-coat surface of a San Juan pool is a NPG/ISO (neopentyl
glycol-isophthalic acid) based polyester resin mixed with colored
pigments. This gel-coat is chemically bonded to the fiberglass
shell and as such is an integral part of the pool. The 30-32 mil
gel-coat finish is nonporous, chemically inert, and extremely
resistant to acids and oxidizers. Algae cannot penetrate the finish,
and any stains which may form on the gel-coat can be removed by
adding a stain remover to the pool water.
